LOST SOLDIERS
...an episodic podcast dedicated to sharing the wartime stories of the known Veterans that rest in Charlotte’s Cedar Grove Cemetery. Hosted by Ché Abdullah & Tom Hanchett – Lost Soldiers, the show presents the Veteran stories of a once abandoned cemetery.
The cemetery holds 20 Veterans (located so far), whose service ranges from the Spanish American War to the conflict in Vietnam.
These soldiers have significant relevance in the growth of Charlotte and the Nation. Until now many of their stories, heroics and contributions to a nation have been little told and often allowed to be forgotten. Please join us for each riveting episode detailing the exploits of the “Lost Soldiers” of Cedar Grove!

Michael D. Connor has toured professionally with Broadway in Philadelphia and Chicago. He is a Professor of Theatre Arts, Professional Actor, Playwright and Director. In his theatre instruction at Livingstone College, he has integrated these disciplines to bring awareness to topics affecting the community the college serves. Mr. Connor enjoys performing his original one man show of seven historical Negro orators called, Reflections from the Past.

Arthur Griffin - County Commissioner | Vietnam Vet | Cedar Grove Ambassador
Arthur served his country in the United States Army as a soldier and Infantry Platoon Leader in Vietnam (1970-71) and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Arthur retired as a senior vice president for McGraw-Hill Education and current County Commissioner.

Chris Brasel - Dir Military and Veteran Services UNC Charlotte - SCG Partner
He is a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Prior to attending UNC Charlotte, Chris served for five years in the United States Navy stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC and Naval Hospital Portsmouth, VA. As Director, Chris is passionate about advocating for military-affiliated student needs.

Ken Koontz was WBTV’s first Black reporter, coming on board in 1969. He spent 14 years with the local news station — 11 as a reporter and news anchor.
Now retired, the 74-year-old mentors the current generation, sharing advice, wisdom and stories about Charlotte’s history. He is also a freelance writer and photography enthusiast.
